What the meanig of «Grease»?

Lubricants are semi-solid, plastic lubricants that are designed to lubricate, protect against wear, corrosion and contamination of components and machinery. Lubricants consist of base oil, thickener and additives. Base oils in greases can be mineral, synthetic or vegetable, depending on the application and operating conditions. A thickener is a material that thickens the base oil to a semi-solid state. The most common thickeners used in oils are metal soaps, such as lithium or calcium soaps. Additives and fillers in greases are used to improve their performance properties. Greases can be of different consistency (viscosity) from very fluid to semi-soft. The scope of greases is very wide: bearings, gears, chains, joints, etc., which operate under conditions of low and high temperatures, high pressure, high humidity and where they provide better efficiency than liquid lubricants.
