What the meanig of «Load wear index»?

Load wear index is an indicator characterizing the ability of a lubricant to reduce the likelihood of scoring on metal as a result of working friction. It is calculated according to the results of data obtained during tests on a four-ball friction machine. The load wear index determines how the lubricant can reduce the amount of damage that results from direct working contact of metal surfaces. The higher the indicator is, the better the properties of the oil are.
