What the meanig of «Semi-synthetic oil»?

Semi-synthetic oils are blends of mineral and synthetic and/or hydrocracked oils. The blend usually contains 10-30% synthetic oil and the rest is mineral oil. Semi-synthetic oils offer a balance of the benefits of mineral and synthetic oils. They offer better engine protection than mineral oils, but are not as expensive as fully synthetic oils. However, semi-synthetic oils may not provide the same level of performance as fully synthetic oils in extreme conditions. In addition, its performance may vary depending on the specific blend and quality of the base oils used.
