Sunoco special oils for vehicles with DPF

Looking at the diesel particulate filter in general we can see a system that is primarily aimed at minimizing the emission of soot and particulate matter into the atmosphere after fuel combustion. This happens because they are accumulated and periodically exposed to high temperatures (about 500 oC) and burned in the ceramic core of the filter. After that, exhaust gases meeting the normative indicators are already released into the atmosphere.
Low fuel quality, obviously, greatly affects the efficiency of the DPF, in addition to the oil, which is also burned with the fuel in small quantities. Therefore, the lower the level of sulfur, sulfate ash and phosphorus in the engine oil, the more reliable and longer the filter will work. For this purpose car manufacturers recommend usage of low ash (“low SAPS”) oils.
SUNOCO has several low SAPS oils in its product range, which prevents oil combustion products from contaminating the filter, for example:
- for passenger cars Sunoco Synturo Mistral 5W-30 or Sunoco Ultra Full Synthetic Euro 5W-30 or Sunoco Synturo Xenon 5W-30
- for trucks Sunoco Heavy Duty Euro HPD 10W-40 or Sunoco Super C Synthetic Blend 10W-40 CK-4
