Nowadays, reliable helpers – household electric generators with a capacity of 3-6 kW are widespread. Such generators can provide simultaneous operation of a refrigerator, TV set, kettle and lighting in the room for several hours without power in the central electricity network. Generator manufacturers recommend choosing engine oils by quality level and by viscosity. The oil quality level is traditionally specified according to API (American Petroleum Institute) standards. These standards classify, among others, oils for 4-stroke gasoline engines. The oil viscosity is specified according to the SAE classification (Society of Automotive Engineers, USA) depending on the temperature operation conditions of the generator. In the temperature range from -25 ° C and above +40 ° C it is advisable to use oil with a viscosity SAE 10W-30. These conditions correspond not only to the special oils for motor vehicles marked 4T on the package, but also to the traditional multi-purpose automotive engine oils.
