What the meanig of «Adhesion»?

Adhesion is the ability of an oil or grease to stick to a surface and remain on it even under high pressure or in the presence of moisture. Good adhesion ensures that the oil or grease stays in place and forms a protective barrier between moving parts, reducing friction and wear. The adhesion of oil to a surface is determined by the chemical composition of the oil and the properties of the lubricated surface. Compounds that can increase adhesion are polar molecules that are attracted to surfaces and high molecular weight polymers that can form strong bonds with metal surfaces. On the other hand, contaminants that can reduce adhesion include acids, solvents, and water.
