What the meanig of «Rust test»?

Hydraulic fluids must provide corrosion protection to all lubricated units under all operating conditions, including water contamination.
The tested oil is mixed with distilled water or artificial sea water, continuously stirring with a steel rod immersed in the mixture for 24 hours at a temperature of 60 °C. The steel rod is then tested for corrosion. The results make it possible to evaluate the anti-corrosion properties of the oil in relation to steel parts in contact with water or steam:
corrosion degree 0 means no corrosion; 1 – light corrosion; 2 – moderate corrosion; 3 – severe corrosion.
